About
Welcome to Staghorn Dogs!
My name is Vivi Scott, and on behalf of the Staghorn Dogs family, I invite you to share in the pleasure of getting to know more about our breeding programme, and the wonderful dogs that make it all happen!
We specialize in breeding the dogs that have been a part of our family over the last 20 years: - The Bernese Mountain Dog and the Miniature Short-haired Dachshund. These two breeds fitted our family dynamics from the first day we had the joy of welcoming them into our home, and between them continue to bring an overall balance, of all that a dog can bring to a dog loving household.
All of our dogs have been health tested and certified with the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) with breed specific clearances for Eyes, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), PRA-CRD4/CORD1 (C4), Elbow & Hip Displaysia, Patellar Luxation and cardiovascular; specific CAER (Companion Animal Eye Registry) eye examinations performed by a board certified veterinary opthalmologist.
Each offer their own wealth of personality, and exude compassion, loyalty & belonging, playful interaction and intelligence. As their ‘people’ our lives are nourished, and our souls enriched every day by their constant and unchanging faithfulness.
Our 5 acre property offers an abundance of opportunity for physical and mental well-being for our dogs, the farm-life and the humans! We are located in the rolling hills of the Cowichan Valley, just 45 minutes north of Victoria BC.
